This one is for trucks. On DAF and the other PACCAR-engined lorries running the Delphi
engine controller, and a few others on the same platform, the engine management includes a
low-speed creep function that lets the vehicle inch forward under its own control when the
driver comes off the brake.
Some operators want it gone. Yard work, coupling and uncoupling, and manoeuvring in tight
depots are the usual reasons – a driver who wants the truck to stay exactly where it is until
they say otherwise.
What the calibration does
The creep function is disabled in the engine controller, and the vehicle behaves like a
conventional manual at rest: nothing happens until the driver asks for it. Everything else in
the calibration is left as it was.
Before we do it
We ask how the vehicle is used and who drives it, because creep exists for a reason and a
driver who is used to it will notice its absence. This is a fleet decision as much as a
technical one, and we would rather have that conversation than reverse the job a week later.
For the trade
This is one of the jobs available through our dealer file service. Send the
original read, tell us the vehicle and what you need, and the file comes back
checked. If a job carries mechanical conditions on the car, they are listed in the
coverage table below and they apply to your customer’s vehicle too.
