A Stage 1 remap takes the 400hp Audi RS3 8V to around 470bhp and 620Nm on our rolling road, and the earlier 367hp car to about 420bhp and 620Nm. The later GPF-equipped 8V and the 8Y reach the same 470bhp with the filter left in place. The 2.5 litre five-cylinder is one of the most rewarding engines we tune, and the torque figure of 620Nm is what turns it from quick into properly rapid.

The standard exhaust of the RS3 operates efficiently for a factory-installed unit, and its intake system features a large air box to minimize restriction. At this level of power, the most cost-effective option is our ECU remap!

This procedure can be done quickly via the OBD plug located under the dashboard, allowing for the ECU to remain in place. This setup also facilitates swift updates or the restoration of the car’s original settings in just minutes.
After extensive testing on the road and dynamometer with our development vehicle, we have managed to significantly increase the power and torque of the 2017+ RS3/TT RS to 470 bhp (+70 bhp) and 620Nm (+140Nm). These enhancements are not merely at peak levels; they extend across the entire rev range, enhancing drivability and providing a more expansive power band for an improved driving experience.
Pricing
After hours of data logging we found the main restriction for the standard car is its relatively small stock intercooler, which tends to become overwhelmed once we increase the power beyond our Stage 1 470 BHP. During a dyno power test, intake air temperatures after the intercooler could quickly rise above 50 degrees celsius. Therefore, much like with the previous generation engine, we anticipated significant improvements from installing a well-designed intercooler.
Stage 2 incorporates the larger Forge intercooler. Its enhanced flow and cooling capabilities allow us to further refine the engine’s calibration. These enhancements unlock an additional 20-30 BHP, pushing engine power past 500 BHP! Torque also rises by 30 Nm to 650 Nm, starting from just 3,000 rpm.

Questions we get asked
How much power does an RS3 8V gain?
The 400hp car goes to around 470bhp and 620Nm. The earlier 367hp version reaches about 420bhp and 620Nm, so it gains more torque in proportion. The 8P at 340hp goes to around 400bhp and 600Nm.
Does the GPF change the figures?
No. The 2019-on 8V and the 8Y have a petrol particulate filter and they reach the same 470bhp with it in place. It stays: removing it makes the car illegal on the road and fails the MOT.
Should I tune the gearbox as well?
Worth it here. The DQ500 has its own torque limiter and 620Nm is enough to run into it. The gearbox tune raises the limiter, speeds up the shifts and gives a manual mode that holds a gear.
What does Stage 2 need?
A downpipe with a sports cat and an intake, then a file written around them. The five-cylinder responds well to breathing better, so it is one of the cars where Stage 2 genuinely earns its money.
Is the 2.5 TFSI strong enough?
It is a robust engine and Stage 1 is well within it. As always what matters more is condition: we check the servicing history, the plugs and the cooling system before writing anything.
How long does it take?
About two hours through the diagnostic port including a road test, or the same day if the ECU needs a bench read, which we do here. We keep your original file so it can go back to standard whenever you want.
Do you offer a 12 month warranty?

What is motorsport use?
Motorsport-exclusive components are explicitly designed for track use. While they can be installed on any vehicle, it’s important to note that using such parts renders the vehicle unsuitable for road use and may result in MOT failure.
Will the lifespan of my engine be reduced?
No! Our remaps are designed specifically to improve the performance of your vehicle whilst remaining within the tolerances of your vehicles’ components.
Sadly, in attempt to achieve ‘big numbers’ some other companies over tune engines, placing excessive stress on the engine, transmission, cooling systems, etc, leading to reduced life span and reliability of the vehicle. We pride ourselves in producing reliable remaps which do not over stress your vehicle but still produce impressive results.
What is covered with the 30-day money back guarantee?
In any case where a customer is dissatisfied with any remap software covered by the guarantee, within thirty days of the supply date, the customer can request their money back. In order for any refund to be processed, the customer must present their vehicle to our workshop and allow our technicians to restore the vehicle to its original state. On successful completion JF Automotive will refund the cost of the remap to the customer.
No refund can be granted unless the vehicle is returned to the original state by JF Automotive. The 30-day money back guarantee covers Stage 1 remaps, EGR, DPF and AdBlue software deletes, gearbox tuning (not BMW xHP) and economy remaps. It does not cover Stage 2, Stage 3, pops and bangs, xHP gearbox tuning, parts (including plug-in modules such as the Speed-Buster) or dyno sessions.
If another modification is purchased alongside a tuning file, which relies on a remap to operate, only the cost of the file is covered by this guarantee. We reserve the right to withdraw this 30 day money back guarantee.
Can the remap be reversed?
Absolutely. We offer this service free of charge if the vehicle is brought back to us. We’ll be very surprised if that’s what you want after taking one of our remap products, however in the case of lease cars some customers prefer to put the car back to standard before returning the car. You might want it back to standard if you are visiting a dealer for warranty or service work, again we will do this for free. Should you lose your tuning files due to dealer actions or parts failure we will be happy to re-install the map onto your car free of charge where possible.
What if a main dealer wipes the map with a software update?
No problem, simply bring the vehicle back in and we will take a fresh read of your ECU and write you a new map file free of charge. We offer this as part of our lifetime software support.
Do I need to notify my insurance company?
Whilst the remap is undetectable to dealer equipment, you should notify your insurance company of any modification to your vehicle. Many insurance companies do not penalise you for upgrades of this nature, particularly if you’re tuning for increased economy however a failure to disclose modifications may invalidate your policy. You may wish to enquire with your insurer if the modification will affect your policy prior to choosing one of our services.
