What it is and when it makes sense

GPF, OPF and PPF are different names for the same thing: a particulate filter fitted to direct-injection petrol engines since Euro 6d. It traps soot from the exhaust and burns it off as the car drives, much like a diesel DPF.

Most of the time it looks after itself. Problems tend to show on tuned cars, track cars and cars that only do short journeys, where the filter loads up, back pressure rises and the car can lose power or show a fault.

On a road car we diagnose and fix the fault so the filter can do its job. GPF removal is offered for off-road use only, such as track and competition cars.

Is a GPF delete legal?

Not on a road car. A GPF is emissions equipment, and removing or disabling it makes a vehicle illegal to use on a UK public road. We only supply it for off-road use.

Which cars have a GPF?

Most direct-injection petrol cars built from around 2018 onwards, including many BMW, Mercedes, VW Group, Porsche and Toyota models.

Does a GPF cost power?

It adds a little back pressure. On a standard car you will not notice it; on a heavily tuned car it can be a limit, which is why we look at the whole car before suggesting anything.
