A Stage 1 remap takes the Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI from 100 to 140 bhp and from 240 to 320 Nm: 40 bhp and 80 Nm more, on standard hardware. Diesels gain most in torque, so the change shows as pull from low revs and less gear-changing under load, not just a higher peak figure. It is done in a visit at our Maidstone workshop and the original file is kept, so it can go back to standard.

How long does it take, and can it be reversed?
