AutoTuner has rolled out full OBD read and write support for Continental’s EMS2211, EMS2301, EMS2302 and EMS2701 engine ECUs, opening up a run of Ford and Lincoln petrol and hybrid models that previously sat outside normal tool coverage. The update lands as a production release rather than a beta, with read times of around four minutes and write times under two minutes over the diagnostic port.
Which ECUs
The release covers four Continental units built around TC17xx and TC1791 microcontrollers:
- Continental EMS2211 (TC1738)
- Continental EMS2301 (TC1724)
- Continental EMS2302 (TC1724)
- Continental EMS2701 (TC1791)
Cars this opens up
The supported range spans Ford’s smaller petrol engines through to the newer hybrid line-up:
- Ford Ka (2014 on) – 1.0 Ti-VCT 12V, 1.2 Ti-VCT
- Ford B-Max, Fiesta, Focus and EcoSport – 1.5 and 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT, 2.0 Duratec
- Ford C-Max, Mondeo and Lincoln MKZ – 2.0 HEV hybrid
- Ford Kuga, Escape, Maverick and Galaxy – 2.5 FHEV and PHEV
- Lincoln Corsair (2020 on) – 2.5 PHEV
What it means
For owners, this is the first time a lot of these Ford and Lincoln hybrids have had a reliable OBD route for remapping work – no bench removal, no soldering, just a normal diagnostic port connection. For dealers, our tools now read and write all four Continental ECUs listed above, so jobs that previously needed a mail-in or a workaround can be turned around on the ramp in under ten minutes total connection time.
The hybrid models in particular are worth flagging to customers: PHEV and FHEV calibration work touches both the combustion side and the hybrid control strategy, so these are jobs best booked in with a workshop that already understands the Continental architecture rather than attempted on a generic reader.
If you run one of the covered models and want to know what a remap would actually look like for your car, our tuning builder will show typical options for your specific engine. Dealers already on our books can get these ECUs through the file service as normal, and anyone running AutoTuner hardware can see the full tool spec on our AutoTuner tuning tool page.
