Stage 1 takes this engine from 163 to 190 BHP and 380 to 440 Nm — a gain of 27 BHP and 60 Nm, around 17% more power.

Most of that gain arrives in the mid-range, which is where you actually feel it — pulling out of junctions, overtaking, and holding a gear on a climb rather than dropping down for it. On a diesel like this one the extra torque is the part owners notice, particularly when loaded or towing.
