Flashtec has released CMDFlash V3.2.0.291, dated 21 October 2026. The update reworks the BMW MDG1 bench protocol, adds new glitch unlock protocols for Bosch MD1CS089, improves the glitch tooling generally, and adds two mail-in unlock services for the Bosch MD1CS016 and MG1CS211.
Which ECUs
- BMW MPC5777 MDG1: the bench protocol has been reworked and now supports locked MPC5777 units without a glitch unlock.
- Bosch MD1CS089: new EMP glitch and voltage unlock protocols.
- Bosch MD1CS016 (Renault, Dacia and Nissan, TC399): a mail-in unlock service has been added.
- Bosch MG1CS211 (VAG, TC387): a mail-in unlock service has been added.
The voltage and EMP glitch protocols as a whole have also been reworked for stability, speed and workflow. There is a new status bar for positioning the EMP tip, plus an audio cue that can be switched off under Options and then Sound Effects.
Vehicles this opens up
The MD1CS089 unlock covers ECUs fitted by Isuzu, JAC, SAIC, BAIC, Deutz, MG and Nissan. The MD1CS016 service is for Renault, Dacia and Nissan applications with the TC399 processor, and the MG1CS211 service is for VAG applications with the TC387 processor. For BMW, the release names the MPC5777 MDG1 only, so check the ECU label before you quote a job. Flashtec has not published a model-by-model list in this release, so we are not listing models here.
A note on the mail-in services, because it matters to anyone who cares about originality: they need a small access hole in the ECU casing, which is sealed afterwards. Flashtec states plainly that the operation leaves a visible trace on the unit’s enclosure. Decide whether that is acceptable for the vehicle before you commit.
What it means
For dealers, the useful points are the BMW MDG1 bench route that no longer needs a glitch unlock on locked units, and a more stable glitch workflow on MD1CS089. Fewer failed attempts means less time with a customer’s ECU on the bench. The mail-in options give a route into two locked ECU families that were previously awkward, at the cost of the visible casing trace.
For owners, this is mainly background, but it widens what a good workshop can do with newer locked diesel and petrol ECUs. If you want to see what is possible on your own car, start with our tuning builder.
