Stellantis’s small petrols and hybrids have been a gap for a while. The Continental GPEC4LM runs the 1.0 and 1.3 FireFly turbos and the 1.5 48V hybrid in most of the Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Fiat range, and until 31 July it needed a boot read. KESS3 3.39 puts it on OBD.
At the other end of the range, Magic Motorsport’s Flex 7.60 (22 June) unlocks the Continental GPEC5 behind the 3.6 Pentastar V6 in the Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator, and the 6.2 supercharged Hemi in the RAM 1500 TRX: a four-minute boot unlock, then OBD from there.
Cars this opens up
- Jeep Compass and Renegade 1.3 turbo and 1.5 hybrid, Grand Cherokee, Commander (2016 on)
- Alfa Romeo Tonale 1.5 hybrid; Dodge Hornet
- Fiat 500X, 500L, Tipo and the South American Pulse, Fastback, Toro and Strada; Peugeot 208 and 2008 1.0 and 1.2 hybrid; Citroen C3
- Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT 3.6 V6 (2018 on), RAM 1500 TRX 6.2 supercharged (2021 on), RAM ProMaster 3.6
What it means
The 1.3 FireFly in the Compass and Renegade makes 150 PS and typically goes to around 185 PS and 300 Nm on a Stage 1; the 1.5 hybrid in the Tonale gains a similar 30 PS on the engine side. The Wrangler’s 3.6 responds mainly in throttle and mid-range torque, which is what you want off road.
Owners: put your registration into the tuning builder. Dealers: GPEC4LM and GPEC5 files through the file service; the KESS3 reads the small engines over OBD and the Flex opens the Wrangler.
