Ford Fiesta and B-Max Continental EMS2101-EMS2106 now OBD on Autotuner

Autotuner now reads and writes Continental EMS2101, EMS2102, EMS2103 and EMS2106 ECUs over OBD, covering Ford Fiesta, B-Max and Mondeo petrols.

Autotuner has released a new OBD protocol for the Continental EMS2101, EMS2102, EMS2103 and EMS2106 engine ECUs fitted to Ford’s naturally aspirated petrol engines of the late 2000s. It went live on 15 September 2026 as a free software update, so any Autotuner tool on current software already has it. Read and write both happen through the diagnostic port with no need to remove the ECU, and Autotuner quotes a 10 second read and a 15 second write, with checksum correction handled by the tool.

Which ECUs

The four units are all from the Continental EMS21 family, built around the Infineon C167 microcontroller. Autotuner lists them as EMS2101, EMS2102, EMS2103 and EMS2106, supported in OBD NR mode, which means a real read of the calibration area rather than a virtual read from a database. The readout is the calibration only, which is all a remap needs, and the tool corrects checksums on the way back in.

Cars this opens up

  • Ford Fiesta (2008 – 2013): 1.25i Duratec 16v and 1.6i Ti-VCT
  • Ford B-Max (2011): 1.4i 16v
  • Ford Mondeo (2007): 1.6i Ti-VCT

These are the models Autotuner names in its release. If you have a Ford outside this list that you believe runs the same ECU, check the tool’s compatibility list before you connect rather than assuming.

What it means

For owners, these small Duratec and Ti-VCT petrols are not turbocharged, so a remap is about throttle response, a cleaner torque curve and smoother part-throttle driving rather than a big headline number. Typically a naturally aspirated remap of this kind gives a modest gain of a few percent and a noticeably sharper feel from the pedal. The Mk7 Fiesta remains one of the most common cars on UK roads, so this is the sort of job that will keep coming through the door for years.

For dealers, an OBD job that reads in ten seconds and writes in fifteen is about as quick as it gets. There is no bench harness to build, no opening the ECU and no boot pins to find. The whole job can be done in the car park with the tool and a laptop. The file service covers these Continental EMS units, so send us the read and we will return the modified file with checksums corrected, ready to write.

Owners can price a remap for their Fiesta, B-Max or Mondeo in our tuning builder. Dealers can order through the file service, or find out more about the Autotuner tool if you are not yet running one.
