Flex 8.29 Korhex Unlock for VAG Bosch MG1CS011, MG1CS111, MG1CS163

Flex 8.29 adds Korhex unlock for VAG Bosch MG1CS011, MG1CS111 and MG1CS163 TC298 ECUs with no PCB work. See the speeds, licence needs and example...

Magicmotorsport has released Flex 8.29.0.0 with Korhex support for three VAG Bosch ECUs that share the TC298 processor: the MG1CS011, MG1CS111 and MG1CS163. The announcement is dated 3 November 2026. These ECUs could already be reached by voltage fault injection, and Korhex now gives a second route that does not need any work on the PCB.

Which ECUs

The three ECUs are Bosch MG1CS011, MG1CS111 and MG1CS163, all TC298. With Korhex the ECU is unlocked without working on the board, and reading and writing then happen in bench mode without reopening the unit. The supported operations are read, write and checksum of the internal flash, read and write of the internal EEPROM, and a full backup.

Magicmotorsport quotes a connection time of about 30 seconds, a read of about 2 minutes 30 seconds and a write of about 2 minutes. Access needs the FLS0.20 licence or the Flex Full FLS0.5 configuration, and the announcement asks users to pay particular attention to pins A1 and A4. We run the Korhex hardware and the Flex licence level it needs, so this is a protocol we can use.

Cars this opens up

The announcement shows a selection of supported vehicles rather than the full list. Examples named by the supplier are:

  • Audi A3 (IV) 8Y, 2021 model year, 1.5 35 TFSI MHEV, 148hp
  • Cupra Formentor, 2021 model year, 1.5 TSI, 148hp
  • Skoda Octavia (IV) NX, 2021 model year, 2.0 TSI, 187hp
  • Volkswagen T-Roc, 2021 model year, 2.0 TSI, 187hp
  • Audi RS Q3 (II) F3, 2021 model year, 2.5 TFSI, 394hp

The complete list is in the Flex vehicle list when filtered by Korhex mode, so check your exact ECU and software before you commit to a job.

What it means

For owners, these are recent Volkswagen Group petrol cars that have been difficult to tune on a locked ECU, and a typical stage 1 file on a turbocharged engine of this type gives a clear gain in power and torque. If you want to see what is possible on your own car, start with our tuning builder.

For dealers, a second unlock route means fewer cars turned away, and the no-PCB approach keeps the ECU intact and the job quick. See our Magicmotorsport Flex tools page and our file service if you would rather send the job to us.
