A Stage 1 remap takes the B9 Audi RS4 and RS5 from 450bhp and 600Nm to around 520bhp and 750Nm on our rolling road, on standard hardware. Both cars use the same 2.9 litre TFSI twin-turbo V6, and the later GPF-equipped versions tune to the same figures as the earlier ones. The torque increase is the part owners notice: 150Nm more, arriving earlier, in a car that already felt quick.

Our Development Car
We strive to offer the very best engine and gearbox tuning across the world for as many makes and models as possible here at JF Automotive. To do this we spend uncountable amount of hours at our research and development facility on the latest vehicles models. This is why we made the decision for the 2018 Audi RS4 B9 as our new development car. We choose this car not just so can offer Audi RS4 B9 engine tuning, but so we can fully understand how this new era of engine management system calculates its data and what affect this has to the engine.
We collected our RS4 B9 from Audi in March 2018 and immediately strapped it down on our dyno for power testing data logging so we got a bigger picture of what the engine was achieving.

Audi RS4 B9 Stock Results
Audi claim 444BHP and 600Nm out the factory at the crank for this engine and yet the initial dyno runs and data logs revealed that it is actually producing 460BHP and 680Nm torque. This is quite common for a german manufacture and especially Audi to understate their figures by so far. The same goes for the 0-62mph time that we recored of 3.5sec and with Audi claiming 4.1sec! Lets also not forget this engine is produced by Audi and Porsche division together, hence its a stonker of an engine!
We recorded the power figures on our Mustang 2000BHP AWD linked dyno which measures a wheel horsepower and torque and then we apply our estimated drivetrain percentage loss to these figures which gives an estimated flywheel power. The P3 Gauge we installed into the air vent which picks up the speed through the OBD port recorded the 0-62mph times.
Audi RS4 B9 Engine Tuning Options
Speed Buster Module: We first developed our plug in tuning module kit for the Audi RS4 B9 to provide a quick, easy and warranty safe tuning option. This adaptive tuning module kit plugs into various engine sensors like turbo pressure and cam shaft (RPM) so that we can control turbo pressure safely using a custom map that we setup and develop on the module.
For 3-4 weeks, we tested the car on the dyno and on the road for the perfect setup while data logging the engine to maintain manufacture safety levels. The module can simply be removed and the loom can be unplugged leaving no trace on the car if you have any warranty issues.
Direct ECU Remap: 2 months later we developed a direct ECU calibration to the engine’s Bosch MG1 ECU. After probably too many hours spent on this development we perfected the engine and gearbox tuning while maintaining all the safety maps built in by Audi. John Ford our director used this vehicle for 3 years and loved every minute of it!

Ok so that’s the peak numbers we have seen on the dyno using our plug in module kit but we actually pulled the torque back to 750Nm for a smoother drive all round. Data logged and checked for safety the engine is running beautifully and the car drives like a factory finished product. We have driven this for over 15000 miles now and its faultless in every sense, the pick up and mid range torque is extraordinary and sure to put a smile on your face with every squirt of the throttle.

Motorsport-exclusive components are explicitly designed for track use. While they can be installed on any vehicle, it’s important to note that using such parts renders the vehicle unsuitable for road use and may result in MOT failure.
No! Our remaps are designed specifically to improve the performance of your vehicle whilst remaining within the tolerances of your vehicles’ components.
Sadly, in attempt to achieve ‘big numbers’ some other companies over tune engines, placing excessive stress on the engine, transmission, cooling systems, etc, leading to reduced life span and reliability of the vehicle. We pride ourselves in producing reliable remaps which do not over stress your vehicle but still produce impressive results.
In any case where a customer is dissatisfied with any ecu remap software supplied, within thirty days of the supply date, the customer can request their money back. In order for any refund to be processed, the customer must present their vehicle to our workshop and allow our technicians to restore the vehicle to its original state. On successful completion JF Automotive will refund the cost of the remap to the customer.
No refund can be granted unless the vehicle is returned to the original state by JF Automotive. The 30-day money back guarantee only applies to stage 1 remaps and does not apply to other services like pops and bangs, parts or dyno sessions.
If another modification is purchased alongside a tuning file, which relies on a remap to operate, only the cost of the file is covered by this guarantee. We reserve the right to withdraw this 30 day money back guarantee.
Absolutely. We offer this service free of charge if the vehicle is brought back to us. We’ll be very surprised if that’s what you want after taking one of our remap products, however in the case of lease cars some customers prefer to put the car back to standard before returning the car. You might want it back to standard if you are visiting a dealer for warranty or service work, again we will do this for free. Should you lose your tuning files due to dealer actions or parts failure we will be happy to re-install the map onto your car free of charge where possible.
No problem, simply bring the vehicle back in and we will take a fresh read of your ECU and write you a new map file free of charge. We offer this as part of our lifetime software support.
Whilst the remap is undetectable to dealer equipment, you should notify your insurance company of any modification to your vehicle. Many insurance companies do not penalise you for upgrades of this nature, particularly if you’re tuning for increased economy however a failure to disclose modifications may invalidate your policy. You may wish to enquire with your insurer if the modification will affect your policy prior to choosing one of our services.
We get asked, “Why do some tuners charge as little as £150?” There are a few factors as to why we do not offer remapping for £100-£200!

Questions we get asked
How much power does an RS4 or RS5 gain?
Around 70bhp and 150Nm at Stage 1: 450 to roughly 520bhp and 600 to 750Nm. The RS4 Avant and the RS5 coupe and Sportback all use the same engine and reach the same figures, GPF or not.
Is the 2.9 TFSI the same engine as the Panamera and the Giulia?
It is Audi's own 2.9 twin-turbo V6, closely related to the unit in the Porsche Panamera. The Alfa 2.9 V6 is a different engine from a different manufacturer, despite the identical capacity, so do not assume figures carry across.
Does the GPF change anything?
Not for the figures. Later cars have a petrol particulate filter and we leave it in place: it is an emissions component and removing it makes the car illegal to use on the road and fails its MOT. The file is written to work with it.
Should I tune the gearbox as well?
Worth it. These use a dual-clutch or ZF automatic with its own torque limiter, and at 750Nm the limiter starts to matter. The gearbox tune raises it, sharpens the shifts and gives a manual mode that holds a gear.
What does Stage 2 need?
Downpipes with sports cats, and ideally an intake. Tell us what is fitted or planned and we will write the file around it and give you a realistic figure before you buy anything.
Is it reversible?
Completely. We keep your original file and can write it back at any point, which is what people do before a main dealer visit.
