AutoTuner has added bench support for the TRW EMS2.3 and EMS2.4 control units, covering current Volvo and Renault heavy trucks as well as a run of agricultural and forestry equipment. The update comes in as a Bench Normal Read (NR) solution, using the ATUBC130 bench cable, and brings full read, write, checksum correction and backup creation to these ECUs for the first time on AutoTuner’s platform.
Which ECUs
The update covers two TRW control units:
- TRW VOLVO EMS2.3 (SPC5674)
- TRW VOLVO EMS2.4 (SPC5777M)
Both are accessed via bench with the ATUBC130 cable. Read time is around 10 minutes and write time around 2 minutes, with checksum correction and a full backup taken before any changes are made. Specific datalogs are also now available on these units.
Vehicles and machines this opens up
On the truck side, this covers Euro 6 Volvo and Renault ranges:
- Volvo FH New Generation – D13K 500, 510 and 540hp
- Volvo FM New Generation – D13K 420, 460 and 550hp
- Volvo FMX – D13K 420, 460, 500 and 540hp
- Renault Trucks T, C, K and D Series – DTI11 (380, 430, 460hp) and DTI13 (480, 520hp)
The same ECUs also turn up across agricultural, forestry and industrial machinery, including:
- Agrifac Condor (7.7L)
- Albach Diamant 2000 (16.1L)
- HSM Harvester/Forwarder 208F (7.7L)
- MTS Sandei, Siloking, Arjes Impaktor and RMH equipment
What it means
For fleet operators and plant owners, this isn’t about a headline power number. These engines live at low revs for long hours, so the gains that matter are in torque delivery through the working range, fuel burn per hour on the job and the amount of work a machine gets through in a shift. A day cab truck pulling at motorway cruise and a harvester working a field all week benefit the same way: a smoother torque curve and a calibration suited to how the machine is actually used, rather than how it was mapped from the factory for the broadest possible market.
For dealers, the practical change is turnaround. A bench NR solution means we can take a read, work the file and hand back a finished calibration without the vehicle needing to come off the road, or out of the field, for longer than necessary. If you run Volvo or Renault trucks on these engines, or agricultural and forestry kit built around the EMS2.3/EMS2.4 platform, our tools can now read and write these ECUs directly.
