bFlash bench protocol for BMW and Mini 8HP.g3 and 7DCT300 TCUs

bFlash update V2609B adds bench support for the latest locked bootloaders on the BMW and Mini 8HP.g3 automatic and the Mini 7DCT300 dual clutch...

bFlash has released update V2609B, a bench protocol for the newest BMW and Mini gearbox control units on their most recent locked bootloaders. The announcement is dated 10 September 2026 and covers the latest BMW and Mini 8HP automatic and the Mini 7DCT300 dual clutch.

The significant word here is bootloader. bFlash already had protocols for these gearbox families, but BMW moved the bootloaders on and that is what shut the door on the newest units. V2609B reopens it: the same protocols you were already using now cover the later bootloader versions as well, so there is nothing new to learn in the software. Work is done on the bench with the TCU out of the car, and bFlash sells a dedicated 8HP cable if you want the pinout handled for you.

Which ECUs

Two transmission control units, both in bench mode:

  • BMW and Mini 8HP.g3 automatic gearbox, bootloader BTMG_V2.13.3.00C
  • BMW and Mini 7DCT300 dual clutch gearbox, bootloader bc7g0301

Cars this opens up

bFlash has published this release by control unit and bootloader rather than by model, so we are not going to guess at a model list. What we can say is that the 8HP.g3 is the current generation of the ZF eight speed automatic used across the BMW range, and the 7DCT300 is the dual clutch unit used on Mini. If you have a recent BMW or Mini and want to know whether your specific car is covered, send us the details and we will check the unit rather than assume.

What it means

For owners, gearbox work is the half of the job that often gets forgotten. A well-judged TCU calibration is what makes an engine remap feel finished: shift points that suit the new torque curve, firmer and quicker changes under load, and less hunting between gears when the car is being driven properly. On the newest cars that work has been off the table simply because the bootloader was locked. It is back on.

For dealers, this is the difference between quoting the whole job and quoting half of it. Being able to take the latest 8HP and 7DCT300 units means a customer with a current car does not get sent elsewhere for the transmission side. It is bench work, so budget the time to get the unit out and back in, and check the bootloader version before you commit to a slot.
