Alientech has opened a new BOOT unlock protocol on KESS3 for the Bosch MD1CE101, the control unit used across more than twenty agricultural, construction and truck brands running FPT Industrial powertrains. The unlock needs the KESS3 Unlock Module accessory once per ECU, after which OBD and bench access are both available for file work.
Which ECUs
The Bosch MD1CE101 covers FPT Industrial powertrains from 2021 onwards. The KESS3 Unlock Module performs a one-off BOOT unlock, after which the ECU can be worked on over OBD or on the bench as needed. Alientech has not flagged this as a beta protocol, so it is a production release.

On the agricultural and construction side this covers Case IH Axial-Flow, Magnum, Maxxum, Optum, Puma and Steiger series, New Holland CR, CX, T6-T9 and TC series, Claas Axion, Steyr CVT and Terrus CVT, Landini 6 Series tractors, McCormick X6, X7 and X8, Merlo Telehandler and Turbofarmer, Dieci Telehandler, Arbos 7000 Series, Horsch sprayers, Faresin Ecomix, Storti Dobermann Evo, Supertino SVM Series, Trioliet Triotrac Series, Ravo 5 iSeries, and forestry and crawler equipment from Otmar, Ritter, Ecoforst, Konrad, Tigercat and Andreoli Engineering.
On the truck and commercial side it covers the Iveco Eurocargo, S-Way and Trakker, the Astra HD9 Series, Temsa buses, FPT Industrial soundproofed gensets, and CompAir air compressors.
What it means
FPT powertrains in this sector are built for torque low in the rev range, fuel burn across a long working day and getting the job done, not headline bhp, so that is where the value sits here. For dealers, the one-off Unlock Module step means OBD and bench access for every ECU afterwards, which keeps turnaround tight when a farm, plant or haulage customer needs a machine back on the job.
