bFlash Adds OBD Read Support for Porsche and Audi ASG1 Units

bFlash has added OBD Virtual Read support for the ASG1 control unit fitted to the Porsche Taycan (pre-facelift) and Audi e-tron GT. The unit can now be read straight over OBD, and a full flash of its software, including the ASW area, is available as a supported job by contacting bFlash support directly.

Which ECUs

The new protocol covers the ASG1 unit using bFlash’s OBD Virtual Read (VR) function. A complete flash of the unit’s software is offered as a supported special case rather than a routine OBD write, so a full flash runs through bFlash support rather than as a standard dealer-side job. This sits alongside bFlash’s existing coverage of other Porsche and Audi control units, and extends the OBD route to a unit that previously needed a different approach.

What it means

Both cars are electric, so this update is not about chasing extra power. Being able to read the ASG1 unit over OBD gives dealers a straightforward way to pull data from it without removing it from the car, which matters on models where bench access to ancillary control units is awkward at best. For anything beyond a read, the route to a full flash runs through bFlash directly, so it is worth checking with us before promising a same day turnaround to a customer on this unit specifically.

As more Taycans and e-tron GTs reach the age and mileage where ancillary units need attention rather than the main drive inverter, having a clean OBD read path for ASG1 is a useful addition for any workshop already working on these platforms. It also means a dealer can establish what is actually on the unit before committing a customer’s car to a longer job, rather than guessing from the service history alone.

For a dealer already set up with bFlash, it costs nothing extra to add this protocol to a visit where other work is already planned on one of these cars.

Full details of the protocol are on our bFlash tuning tools page. Owners can see what else is possible through our tuning builder, and dealers can reach this file through our file service.
