Mercedes locked the whole 2021-on range behind a family of Bosch MDG1 ECUs, and for three years the answer to “can you do my C 300 d” was no. In the first week of July that changed: Autotuner released bench read and write, after a mail-in unlock, for eight of them at once. Between them they cover almost every current Mercedes with a petrol or diesel engine.
Which ECUs and which cars
- MG1CS046 and MG1CS100 (petrol mild hybrid and plug-in): C, E, CLE, GLC, GLE, S-Class and Maybach in 200, 260, 300, 350, 450, 500, 550 and 53 AMG, and the 300e, 350e, 400e, 450e and 580e plug-ins (2020 on)
- MD1CP010 and MD1CP011 (diesel): C, E, CLE, GLC and GLE in 200d, 220d, 300d, 300de and 350de (2020 on)
- MG1CS701 (1.3 turbo) and MG1CP777 (2.0 turbo): A-Class, B-Class, CLA, GLA and GLB in 180, 200, 220, 250, 250e and 35 AMG (2018 on)
- MG1CP004: C 43 and C 63 S E-Performance (2021 on), GLC 43 and GLC 63 S (2023 on), AMG GT 43, SL 43
- MG1CP003: AMG GT 55, 63, 63 Pro and 63 S E-Performance, SL 55 and 63, S 580 and S 63, Maybach SL 680
What it means
The 220d and 300d are the cars we are asked about most, and the OM654 responds well: typically 40 to 50 PS and 80 to 100 Nm from a Stage 1 with the mild hybrid system untouched. The 2.0 petrol mild hybrids in the C 300 and E 300 gain a similar amount. The first visit needs the ECU out for the unlock; once it is back it is a bench job for anything that follows. For the older Mercedes MD1 and MG1 units we have run a remote unlock service for two years; this is the same idea for the newer cars.
Owners: put your registration into the tuning builder for figures and a price. Dealers: all eight ECUs are covered by the file service; the Autotuner is the tool that reads them, and since 4 September the Flex with the Korhex opens the MD1CP001 and MG1CP002 cars in the workshop without a mail-in.
